Generic drugs
Generic drugs are drugs identified by its chemical name rather than its brand name. Generics are available after expiry of the patent protection of an originator drug and are offered at substantially lower prices resulting in great cost savings to patients and health care in general. A Generic drug is identical to the original drug with respect to its Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic properties, efficacy, safety, dose, strength and route of administration. Generic drugs are prescription drugs, which may only be sold to consumers possessing a valid prescription.
